Techniques

Wheelchair handling techniques: training is primarily focused on learning how to manoeuvre your wheelchair. We practice indoors and outdoors, climbing uphill and downhill, up and down the stairs.

Transfers from and to the wheelchair: You will learn new ways to transfer yourself in and out of bed, to and from the toilet, in and out of car, up and down from floor.

Dressing: During the daily program and through living with a group of people with similar injury as yours, you will encounter techniques which will allow you to undertake daily living activities such as dressing, eating and so on, more easily and faster. The aim is to find your own ways.

Wheelchair adjustments: During the training camp and while your autonomy improves, you will demand more from your wheelchair. Suitable adjustments according to your needs will facilitate your mobility, and will reduce injuries and pain.

Strength Training

The basis for all other types of training is strengthening and improving your physical fitness. This is established through training with weights, bands, sticks and balls. The more you increase muscle strength, the easier it will be for example to transfer into and out from your wheelchair, your car, to go up and down hills. You will notice the difference even after very light training.

Table tennis / archery / tennis

With this type of activities you can practice your balance and co-ordination, as well as improve stamina and reflex reaction speed. These sports are enjoyable and help you improve in various ways.

Swimming

You train your strength and endurance, while you practice getting dressed and undressed, as well as transfers. You will have considerable benefit from this activity in daily living skills.

Wheelchair Basketball / rugby

Wheelchair basketball and rugby are very popular sports in some countries. You will have the chance to use adjusted sport wheelchairs and feel the speed and the freedom of mobility they offer.

Walking

Walking concerns those who have incomplete spinal injury or amputation. You will train balance, strength, co-ordination and stamina, by using floor exercises and water training.
